What Causes Acne ?
ACNE, often thought of as an ordinary teenage condition, is a common skin disorder afflicting people of all ages.
Women, especially, can be affected throughout various stages of their life. This potentially scarring disease of the pore can cause significant damage on and below the surface of the skin.
Acne can take a psychological toll on those who suffer from it – causing feelings of poor body image, low self-esteem, and depression. The causes of acne vary depending on age, gender, and stress levels.
The main causes are :
- Genetic Disposition: Despite popular belief, acne is not related to chocolate, fried food, exercise, or poor hygiene. It is cause by sluggish dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria in the pores.
- Hormones: This cause of acne can be due to hormonal shifts during the menstrual cycle, post-menopause, or an imbalance in androgen levels.
- Sensitive Skin: Acne cosmetica is related to the use of certain skincare and cosmetic ingredients. Some ingredients that may cause breakouts include acetylated lanolin, almond, avocado oil, cocoa butter, coconut, isopropyl myristate, primrose oil, sandlewood, sesame, and sodium lauryl sulfate.
Millions of women develop acne for the first time between the ages of 30 and 40. Millions more have struggled with this skin disorder since they were young and will continue to battle the condition indefinitely.
Acne can be successfully controlled and treated using Ultrasonic Facials to decongest and cleanse the skin. Medical grade peels and home care products can control acne and improve scarring.
Teenagers, particularly males will benefit from clinical treatments to clear and exfoliate infected areas, improving their appearance and their self esteem.
